Varied Learning Styles

Our daily curriculum allows each student to experience a variety of experience-based learning. We provide an intentional balance of Focused, Brain Studying versus Creative, Productive Learning.

Balance of Doing & Being

In our ever changing rapid paced society an imperative skill is learning to balance your life with work and play, indoor versus outdoor, speaking versus listening, technology versus nature, having the mind focused versus quiet.

Cultural Awareness

Living on Maui, students have amazing access to a deeply rooted culture. The culture of the land is not just the responsibility of the Hawaiians to perpetuate, but to all who choose to make this place their home.

Every aspect of our school embodies balance.

Our curriculum is based on a balance of Focused, Brain Studying versus Creative, Productive Learning. At the start of each day, when the brain is the freshest, our students learn essential skills of language arts and math. Learning through stories, both historical and fictional, that peak interest and grab the imagination keeps learning fun. Our afternoon sessions include papa ola, or life classes, where children will apply the skills they’ve learned and partake in a problem based curriculum on the farm. Students will experience farming, weaving, knitting, sewing, carving, building, printing, pounding, painting, sculpting and other cultural means. They will also embody: Dance where they will learn hula and other modern dances. `Olelo Hawai`i where students will learn to speak and read in the Hawaiian language. Music, where they will learn to play both Hawaiian and other instruments. Body Movement, where they will learn fun games and skills to stay physically healthy and learn cooperative sports. Lastly, Mana Classes, where students will learn skills like caring for children and animals, basic automotive or farm vehicle care, budgeting, cooking, cleaning and other essential home skills.
